Entertaiment, an agreementable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement: a daily crossword puzzle is entertainment for many. Entertaining can take on many forms, from a single person selecting pre-recorded entertainment to be played in the privacy of their own home to a banquet arranged for two to an elaborate spectacle intended for thousands and available to a global audience.
The power of an entertaining experience lies in its ability to provoke the brain to release seratonin and dopamine and to hit on a theme that the human mind was evolved to react deeply to, such as social backstabbing, murder or other themes in our social world. The story of Scheherazade, for example, is so powerful that it has been retold in music (by Rimsky-Korsakov and others), in film and even as an innovative video game.
