Soft news
Soft news, or “soft media,” are organizations that deal with arts, entertainment, lifestyle, or other topics. They can take the form of television programs, print articles, or magazines. These groups have a large impact on the community. Soft news can be considered a valuable source of information for many different purposes. In this study, Patterson examined the words used in news stories. He analyzed them to discover the frequency of two main categories of words. Second, SELF-REFERENCES, which are first-person references, are generally associated with soft news.
Stories with a strong impact
Stories with a strong impact are those that readers can easily understand and relate to. These are typically stories that involve violence, scandal, or another form of attention-grabbing news event. They are also more compelling because they are more familiar and close to the readers’ daily lives. They will also receive more coverage if they are timely. These models play an important role in the media’s process and its effect on society.
One project, the Africa-China Reporting Project, empowers and supports African and Chinese journalists in reporting the socioeconomic and environmental features of the Africa-China relationship. While Western media often dominates the portrayal of African countries, this initiative is making a difference through supporting African voices in reporting about these relations.
Stories with a familiar and local context
Stories with a local context are stories set in an area or time that the reader is familiar with. This gives readers an idea of the people, places, and cultures in which the story takes place. Setting can be broad or narrow, and can be local or distant. It informs the backdrop, atmosphere, and the way in which characters interact with the setting. In some stories, the setting becomes a character itself.
